Seek Adventure: By Compass (Chap. 3)
As far the compass goes it serves to point us in the right direction and if we're lucky that direction leads to an unforgettable adventure...this was the case for this project.
The road to this year’s project was littered with various options, all were eventually abandoned for a single, powerful pull. With a continued series of short visits acting like breadcrumbs, leading toward a specified destination and with every return to The Pine Tree State, that magnetic pull only grew stronger, demanding that this adventure results in a return back to Maine.
What transpired though was beyond expectation. The journey delivered moments that equally I wish never to repeat—mainly a mishap that I have mixed feelings on of not being recording and thankfully not turning out to become 'found footage'—but moreover others that far surpassed expectations, checking off long-held wishes. Maine has taken hold and will always remain a favorite place for future return adventures.
But for 2025, the goal was to push North and abandon the magnetic pull of the coast; a difficult, but necessary, decision. In doing so, we uncovered a powerful hint of what the North Woods truly have to offer, including the moment of FINALLY hearing the echo over a secluded, still pond: the unmistakable call of the Spirit of the North.
